I was gifted this by the author for an honest review. Thank You.
Avangeline, (Angie) is from a mixed blood line of witch and vampire. Phoenix has been charged with protecting her and training her. Angie is locked away to train with Phoenix for the next couple months. “I truly despised vampyres anymore with their graceful, fluid movements, extremely heightened senses, and the ability to be total asses and still look hot doing it.” While training with Phoenix, Angie discovers that she has powers. The first novella I was liking as it set the scene and introduced the characters. My mind started wandering during the second novella and I was getting a little bored. I wasn't drawn into the story as much as I read it. The writing, I thought, was actually better in Angie's journal entries than the rest of the story. “Oh, and I made Phoenix stay with me last night... I seriously just didn't want him to go… I didn't like the thought of something happening to him without me being there to possibly help, it scared me a bit.” By the fourth novella I was getting into the story again. Angie and Phoenix have a bit of a tumultous relationship. I love you. I don't love you. I want you. I don't want you. And Angie is a very reluctant leader and savior. This was pretty good but I didn't like it as much as the other works I've read by this author. 3 stars.
