It
has been 20 years since the vampires came out to humanity. Mira is an
adult now and warrior of the Order. She is a breedmate, yet she is
leader of a unit of Breed. I have read all the Midnight Breed books
up to this one, and this is a new direction of the series: Breed, the
next generation. If you haven't read any Midnight Breed books, this
would be a good one to start with. 8 years ago, Kellan, Mira's lover,
supposedly died in a fire. I was enjoying seeing the grown-up Nathan,
Lucan's son Darion, and Dante's son Xander Raphael (Rafe). Mira gets
in trouble for attacking a human and is given baby sitting duty for
genius human Jeremy Ackmeyer. Lucan has his hands full trying to keep
the peace between humans and the Breed. There are human hate groups
attacking, protesting and killing the Breed. Lucan has gone from
warrior to politician. Mira could be kicked out of the Order for her
actions. And then things start getting interesting. Kellan had been
hiding a secret from Mira. Once Kellan and Mira are reunited things
between them start getting complicated, romantic and erotic. This
story was so good. I loved how it all came together in the end.
Amazing. 5 stars.
