MY REVIEW

A popular actress has been found murdered. A plucky criminal defense lawyer, Samantha lands the case. Marcia Clark is a very talented and clever writer. I was enjoying the book right away. I liked Samantha, she is very funny and down to earth. I liked the mystery and all the descriptions of the sleazier parts of L.A. A Stephanie Plum type How to get away With Murder type mystery. A fun and exciting summer thriller read. I liked this book so much, that I want to continue reading about these characters and future books in the series. This book had a lot of twists and turns that I didn't expect. I was really caught up in the story and couldn't put the book down. Great read. 5 stars.

The Forgotten by Jennifer Sivec review ~ Kami

MY REVIEW
This book has very much a folk tale type story telling vibe to it. It also feels like a Native American type tale of the first people. A fairy falls in love with a human and makes a bargain with demons that breaks the natural order of things. The story is set around two sets of siblings, two girls and two boys. The writing and pacing is really good and the book held my interest. Kyla inserts herself into the Governor's life. His children are forgotten. His wife imprisoned. All the children in the entire village are taken and forgotten. The children have to learn to survive on their own. A very interesting read. 4 stars.

MY REVIEW

In the near future and alternate past, the world is on the brink of war. World War 3. China is at war with Russia and people are dying. Corina's father has died after serving in the Red Cross during the war for sixteen years. I liked Corina. She is tough and spunky. This is a fast paced, well written story. Corina never knew her father, he left for the war before she was born. Everyone says what an amazing person and hero he was, but Corina isn't too sure. And then a mysterious man shows up and offers Corina a magical solution and Corina meets her father. I was enjoying this book a lot. There was a lot of adventure and teenage angst and then it was really heart warming and sweet. Great book. 5 stars.

MY REVIEW

Ileana is an FBI agent investigating a serial killer with her partner. Both Ileana and Tommy had abusive childhoods. This is a best friend turned lover type of romance, which I don't really like. They both think the other one only wants to be friends and isn't that in to him or her but he or she really wants the other, blah, blah, blah. I really don't have the patience for that kind of scenario. Just get it on or don't. Stop whining and pining. I wasn't really enjoying this book till the time travel. 3 stars.

MY REVIEW

This is a steampunk fairytale which I love. Fairytales are over, dragons and ogres have been destroyed. The city is now running on steam powered clock work bringing in the age of technology taking over the age of magic. But some of the fairytale monsters survived and are in hiding. They are called Cryptids. Marek is a cryptid and involved in an underground rebellion to free his people. I like Marek,  he is honorable and sweet. I also liked Enyo. She is a very complicated, layered character. I liked that the characters aren't perfect people, that they have flaws.  Marek and Enyo have adventures protecting Cryptids and discovering who they really are. A fantastic story 5 stars.

MY REVIEW

Julia is a teenage CIA agent. Her target is Cole whose father is an arms dealer. Julia has feelings for Cole that she works hard at suppressing. I liked the espionage and chemically enhanced super soldier aspects of the story. The Sway are a group of kid mutants, like the Xmen, trying to save the world. It doesn't seem plausible to me that Julia would so quickly join their cause. I usually really ike super soldier, kid mutants fighting the government type books but I really had a hard time getting into this book. I don't know if it was the writing I had an issue with or that Julia didn't come across as very sympathetic. Either way, the book wasn't really holding my interest all the way through. 3 stars.

Sherlock's Demon by Simon Clark review ~ Kami

http://www.amazon.com/Simon-Clark/e/B001KIFV00/ref=dp_byline_cont_ebooks_1

MY REVIEW
This book has a very Gothic horror story, ghost story feel. I picked it up because I thought the concept of a person being possessed by the ghost of Sherlock Holmes sounded kind of funny. This is the second book in a series about a group of ghost hunters trying to get their ghost hunting documentary on television. I don't think those ghost hunter shows are very scary, anything that happens is probably clever editing after the fact. The beginning of the book was spooky enough to grab my attention. I've never read anything else by this author but I thought this book was really interesting. This is a fast paced, well-written, short read.  I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. 4 stars.

Winter is Coming review ~ Kami

MY REVIEW

I am a big fan of the Song of Ice and Fire series of books by George R R Martin and the TV show Game of Thrones. I thought this book would be an interesting read, a look at the books and show from a medieval historian and mythological point of view. Also, I thought it would be a reminder of things I had forgotten from the books or clues I missed from the show. With the books being published 2 to 6 years apart, it is easy to forget some elements of the story. This book doesn't dissapoint. It is well-crafted, smartly written and thorough. I was really enjoying it a lot and felt that it perfectly did what it set out to do. I enjoyed the history lessons and the insights into George RR Martin's books and the HBO show. I hadn't realized so much of Martin's saga was influenced by history and mythology. It was a lot of fun to learn where elements of his story came from. Well done. 5 stars.

MY REVIEW

I was liking this book a lot from the beginning. The writing is really good. Leonie discovers that she and her father aren't exactly human. They are of the Chosen. Leonie had no idea until her powers first manifest and her father shows her a vision of the future. Kytaen are enslaved and treated like animals by the Chosen. I liked that Leonie treated hers as a person since he is a sentient being with feelings, illustrated by the chapters told from his point of view. Leonie has a hard time fitting into this magical world that she had no idea existed and her father compounds the problems with his secretive nature. I really liked these characters Korren and Leonie with their faults and emotions. Korren is dark, brooding and sad while Leonie tries so hard to be cheerful even when she is terrified. Leonie is also very naive, she keeps getting talked into things, that as a reader, I thought were probably a bad idea.  This is the first book in the series and I will be interested in reading more books in the series. I was really enjoying it a lot. 4 stars.

PNR Blitz Eden Ashe ~ Kami

1 / 7 promosmallest
Hiya! Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy your thing? We've got you covered! Not only is first prize a $2,000 Amazon gift card, we also have 15 ebook and paperback runner up prizes!
I'm Eden Ashe, and my story in the promotion is the first in my Dragon Lore series, The Dragon's Heart about Daniel, the dragon king and his human, superstar actress mate, Shelby. And, just for you all, I managed to convince the dragon that his mate would be safe if they came and chatted with us for awhile!
51KDqMMUDRL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.   "We're dragons. We don't do the mushy friend thing." – Daniel The dragon-shifter king will do anything to keep his mate alive. . .even if it means war. After millennia as king of the dragon-shifters, Daniel Ashborne wants a little peace and quiet, especially from the beautiful Hollywood starlet who haunts his memories. His escape tactics end abruptly when he is called to the ER to save the one woman he wants to forget, but who now bears his mark. Shelby Kincade's life and movie career were nearly destroyed when Daniel vanished a year ago. Now he's back, claiming they have been accidentally mated. Getting over him once was hard enough, but now she must choose either the life of her dreams or the man she can't live without. 2 / 7 With peace finally on the horizon between the dragon-shifters and the Hunters, an assassination attempt on the dragon king and his mate shatters everything. Tensions rebuild as Daniel and his loyal team of shifters try to discover who put out the hit. Enemy and ally lines are crossed, but in the end--after the battle ash has settled--no one could have foreseen who has plotted for their own gain. CONTENT WARNING: Graphic fight scenes, lots of great sex, and hot, hot, hot dragon men.   SO DANIEL, while remembering to keep this PG-13 in case my mother reads this, what’s your favorite thing about Shelby? Lifting a brow and crossing his arms over his MACK-sized chest, he looks less than thrilled. "I'm not telling you--" His words cut off abruptly as Shelby, his mate, appears next to him. He sighs and hooks his arm around her neck, his face softening. "This. How she can fix everything wrong in my world by just showing up. I haven't figured out how she does it yet, but somehow, she makes all the parts of me I don't like seem okay." SHELBY, same question. What was it about Daniel that drew you in, and made you decide HIM. I want HIM? Other than his manly bits, of course. Shelby snorts and grins up at Daniel. "Honestly? His temper. He kept everyone at a distance, ruled with an iron fist, and yet from the first moment I met him, I had this overwhelming need to protect him. It didn't make sense, and I didn't care. He needed me." WHAT DO you think is the best part of the story? They stare at each other for a long moment, before Shelby's grin goes wider and Daniel sighs, making a sweeping motion with his hand for her to tell the story. "Go on, princess. You tell it better." She lets out a dreamy sound as she rests her head against his chest. "About half-way through the story, Daniel does something he's never done before, surprising himself. And if I hadn't already known I loved him, that one second when I stood in front of him in the kitchen, dripping wet, would have me tripping all over myself to claim him as my own." 3 / 7 "I played." He winces slightly at how that sounds, before he shrugs and presses his lips to the top of her head. "I'm the dragon king. I don't play. I fight and I plan and I protect. In that moment, when she coaxed that side of me out that I hadn't even known existed and stared up at me with my entire world shining in her eyes, I'd have torn the world apart at the seams to keep her smiling at me." "Aww." Going on her toes, she kissed his chin. "I love this tame part of you, but I miss my surly dragon sometimes." PET PEEVES? Shelby snorts. "You try living with a horde of ancient, over-protective dragons whose sole mission in life is to keep you safe. I love them all madly, but I swear, I can't turn around without three alpha dragons making sure I'm okay." "Yeah, that's not changing, princess." His pupils split and a low, dangerous growl rumbles in his chest. "You're the most famous actress in the world and someone's already tried to take you away from me once. I won't take chances with you." ANY LAST words? Shelby nods. "Yes, Eden--our writer--thought you'd like to see how she envisions us." [gallery ids="15,16" type="rectangular"]

Three shifters walked into a bar.
It sounds like the beginning of a corny joke, doesn’t it?
But here’s a little more information for you. I was those shifters’ alpha and den mother rolled into one. Two of the barhoppers were jail bait or close to it. And the establishment in question was filled to the brim with horny, lawless, outpack males.
No wonder I wasn’t laughing and was in a big hurry.
I breezed past the bouncer with a show of entirely human teeth, then rolled my eyes at his laxness. The employee wasn’t being remiss by not checking my ID. Not in a werewolf bar. But he still wasn’t really doing his job.
I was twenty-one—barely—which is all humans would have cared about when allowing entrance to a drinking establishment. But the guy at the door in a shifter bar was supposed to turn away anyone without the ability to don fur and howl at the moon. And even though I was technically a shifter, my half-human heritage meant my wolf was too weak to rise up behind my eyes and prove her worth to the bouncer.
Good thing I was accustomed to faking it.
But I wasn’t home free just yet. I’d barely set foot in the sea of writhing bodies when one of those lawless males alluded to earlier grabbed my arm, swinging me around to collide hard with his chest. My chin thudded against bare flesh only slightly less hairy than it would have been in lupine form and my nose took in the over-ripe scent of unwashed man.
Ugh. Not that it would have mattered if he was cute. I was on a mission and Ginger, Cinnamon, and Lia had a half-hour head start on me. I could only imagine what kind of mischief the trouble twins and their tagalong cousin could get up to during thirty long minutes alone.
“Nice to see another lady in the place,” the male offered with a triumphant leer, clearly pleased with himself for having snagged one of the few females in evidence. His words made it sound like he was trying to pick me up, 4 / 19 but his iron grip on my bicep presented a very different picture. Ten feet in the door, I was already in trouble.
Luckily, I was up to the challenge.

Excerpt of Highlander's Kiss

“I’m sorry, but Cherub’s here to collect me and I must go.” Julia wrapped one hand around Tavish’s forearm and the blue haze of frustration in his aura receded. “You must believe me when I say we’re no’ mated.” “A mated male knows when he meets his chosen one.” A look of longing flashed across his face as he lifted a lock of her hair and curled it around his finger. “Your hair is so soft and silky, and you look beautiful in your gown.” “And you are a charmer with your touching words.” She let go of him and walked from the bathroom, through his chamber and out his open bedroom door. The passageway, lit with bright overhead lighting led toward a stairwell at the far end. She strode along the burgundy and blue runner as Tavish jogged in beside her. “Julia, I don’t need the full moon to guide me to my chosen one, not when being near you tells me all I need to know. I’ve also no idea why our auras aren’t tugging toward each other’s as you’ve said, but that matters little to me.” He lifted a challenging brow. “Do you not feel anything toward me?” 3 / 7 “I dinnae have the right to speak of it if I do.” He was taken, and she would never come between a soul bound pair. “That’s not what I asked.” He caught her hand, slowed her step then pressed her back against the wall. Head dipped, he touched his nose to hers, and murmured, “My desire for you is growing, in leaps and bounds. All I want to do is hold you, kiss you, to discover everything there is to learn about you.” “The only thing you need to learn is that I’m not yours.” She fluttered a hand over her racing heartbeat. Those words sounded wrong even as she uttered them and they clashed inside her, made her cringe. “Let me go, Tavish.” “That is still the wrong answer.” Smoothly, he slid his hand under her hair and palmed the bare skin of her nape, his gaze moving over the sensitive area where her shoulder and neck met. He rubbed one thumb over the spot. “I want to bite you, to mark you as mine, just as those mated pairs in my clan do.” “’Tis an anomaly for sure.” She touched his neck in return, right over his thumping pulse point. “It’s no anomaly, but the early stages of the bond taking form.” He eased closer, brushed his nose through her hair and nuzzled her neck. “Since the moment we met, I’ve struggled to let you out of my sight. When you walked into the bathroom and away from me, all I wanted to do was tear that door down so we were no longer separated. Now I’m about to take you downstairs to Cherub and Kirk when it’s the last thing I want to do. You are mine.”
