MY REVIEWS:
Destiny Repeats Twice (Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black #1)
by Eri Nelson
This book is written in a very unusual
style. It is almost stream of consciousness the way the syntax jumps
around and points of view change. The author's note says that the
author is unorthodox and unusual. I was liking it though and it was
working for me up to a point. Aiden and Izzy meet and they are
immediately drawn to each other. Izzy has mysterious supernatural,
magical abilities and something bad is after her. 3.5 stars.
The Scent Of Power (Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black #2)
Aiden is missing and there has been an
outbreak of apparent vampire attacks. This writer has such an unusual
style, I am not sure what to make of her. It is definitely different.
It is fast paced. The narrative and point of view jumps around a lot.
I thought it was entertaining and the characters were interesting
enough to keep me reading. I am giving this book three stars since it
was okay for me and the author an extra half star for originality.
3.5 stars.

From the unorthodox author Eri Nelson comes a first look into a modern day mythology twist of the Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black Series. This adult-action-packed-interweaving tale catches the initial sparks of a fire that will not stop until it entices your desire to read more.

Izzy’s
world is apparently not what it seems and neither is she. Although
this now adult orphan is attempting to grasp at all the flying
madness whizzing her way.
From
electrically charged meetings of the first sight kind to the
levitating heartbeats, Izzy takes it all in stride. However, even a
girl of her kind is allowed to totally kick the crap of love’s
possible interest. Not to mention grab him by the shirt tail while
dashing through the walls ending in another time and back again.
Blurb:
From the unorthodox author Eri Nelson emerges book two in a modern day whirlwind weave to mythology’s take on tales. From the Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black Series comes the sparks that could truly only be Izzy herself.

As
fate belted her for knowing the truth, Izzy now finds out that Aiden
has gone missing. Having not ended on a heartwarming note, the
electorally-charged-mortal with a warped take on being a goddess
plans for a search and rescue.
With
plans for Aiden’s rescue almost halted by Arnost and Meg, Izzy
takes in an ill paced smell. No lie, her new power is the act of
being able to smell it. However, this hasn't stopped the rotten flesh
of the dead from leaving their scent in the act of trying to harm
Izzy.
In
an ever growing list of Izzy’s enemies one will hold the fatherly
insight she has desired or will he?

~The
force
was great and far
too
out of control. In so much as
to
have Izzy and Aiden landing
shoulder
to shoulder and face down in a pile
of
rubble.
“What
just happen? What did you do?
What
did you just do, Isabella?”
“I
don’t know! But whatever it was it
just
saved both our asses and sense your
whole
attitude resides in yours. You would
think
you would be happy!”
“Yeah
I am happy! Hey the first thing I
thought
about this morning was Hey
wouldn’t
it
be grand to travel through my own bloody
walls
only to find myself face down in the dirt.
Oh
and let us not forgot whatever the hell that
was
that blew all my windows in. Do you
even
know how much that is going to cost
me?
Cause I sure as don’t,” Aiden was aware
that
he was rambling out of pure panic but he
sure
was not going to admit it.
“Yeah
Mr. Elite Black that’s the first
thing
I think about when I am about to be
killed
is how much is this going to cost me.
Have
I mentioned within the past hour how
much
of an ass you are?”
“So
you didn’t come to my home to
explain
anything, but to flee from something?
Am
I right?”
“Ok,
you are right I did. However, in
all
honesty it was not on purpose. I heard a
voice
that told me to run
to him that can help.
I
was not even thinking about you. For that
matter,
I did not even know where you lived. I
just
ran and then I ended up in the lobby of
your
building where I seen your name in the
listings.
Look, up to the last few hours I did
not
know who or what I was and currently I
wish
I still did not. But if it makes you feel
any
better, I am sorry I got you involved.”
Aiden
looked at her questioningly but
said.
“Well, that does not make me feel any
better,
but thanks!”
Izzy
arose from the rubble becoming
more
aware of her wounds. She still wore her
gym
clothes and after this, her Nike’s would
never
be the same. It seems she was getting
harder
on her shoes in a matter of hours than
the
last few years of all her cardio routines.
Glancing
around she said, “We have to find
something
to tell us where we are.”
Aiden
bent over and pulled with him a
metal
engraved plate. “Mystery solved. We
are
in the midst of what’s left of my
building.”
“How
can you tell,” questioned Izzy?
“Cause
this plate bears my address.”
“Ok,
I am pretty sure I did not blow up
the
building but to be honest I am not sure.”
Aiden
looked at Izzy calmly before he
went
on into a frenzy. “You are not sure!
Look
around here Glenda
the not so good
witch,
what was your first clue? The fact,
which
we seem to be the only humans in a
fifty-mile
radius? Oh, or perhaps it was that
there
is nothing but a crumbled building lying
around
us! Right now, I can’t believe I was
even
fascinated by your ass let alone any
abilities
you might have!”
“You
egotistical self centered…. I am
pretty
sure we went through the building and
if
you stop your over reacting mouth for half a
breath,
you would remember that we flew
through
what I can only say and think was
time.
As for my posterior, well it is finer out
of
these biker shorts. Not that you will ever
have
the opportunity to know.”
“Pretty
sure? You think. So let me just
take
a look into your glass globe of a head.”
Izzy
rolled her eyes and watch Aiden
continue
on with his hysterics.
“Hmmm,
well from what I can gather
you
got up today and said hey
I know who I
can
test psycho crap on today!
Some poor
sucker
that you just so happen to bash his
head
in. Yeah that will do it!”
“Come
on, I didn’t think about the
bashing
in part. That came when you opened
your
mouth.”
“Funny!
So you are not just some chick
with
freaky power you are an off color
comedian.”
“Take
a moment and really look around
here.
This destruction did not just happen.
Clearly
this rubble has been here for
decades,”
Izzy was not so sure about her
statement
until just now but under her current
duress,
it made sense.
Aiden
contemplated this newest
discovery
while he rummaged through the
crumbled
building’s remains.
“I
think you might be right there seems
to
be some growth around the edges.”
Izzy
climbed to one of the last
remaining
corners of the building to view the
surroundings.
“Aiden
look, there seems to be more
destruction
all around us. Whatever has
happened
it seems that it has been a more
dynamic
source of energy than I believe
remains
within me.”
“That
might be the case but it is a little
early
to come to that conclusion.”
His
words might be accurate however
right
now they just seemed to tick Izzy off.
“Why
do you have to be such a positive
ass?
For crying out loud, lets least try to work
this
out!”
“Isabella,
I simply meant that we need
to
look around a bit more before we conclude
on
any theories.”
Izzy
paused before jumping down off
her
peak and dared to reply. “Oh, guess I
jumped
the gun on that. Sorry.”
“Yeah
well let us not get all mushy
with
sentiment.”
With
the Grimoire in hand Izzy stated as if talking to the book as if she
would any other, “It’s not safe for you.” In response, the book
glowed and vanished from her grasp.
The
odor was far more potent than her first stumble upon their type. At
this point, she was sure that this would be her second run in with
this kind. Since she had not encountered it while searching for their
The
Cursed
visitor, Tempest, she was confident these were a different kind of
being. More importantly, she was positive that Arnost as well as her
sister were keeping yet another secret from her. If she were able to
get through this she would be certain to ask this time what were the
ones known as blood mad?
Instead
of a shaded moon to guide her way, Izzy had the evening sun setting
to light up the horizon. It would be a lighted display compared to
her last encounter.
As
the crest of a head emerged, Izzy chose to duck behind one of the
many discarded vehicles on Arnost’s junkyard’s front. She had
expected merely one but from her crouch position, she could now see
many shapes approaching. This would perhaps be a blood bath. With
whose blood she was not sure of. Izzy only hoped it would not be
her’s.
Finally
close enough for her vision to take in the whole scene Izzy stumbled
falling on her derrière.
“Holy
crap, It’s a Thriller video and me without a red jacket!”
Like
in true Izzy form, she chuckled at her warped sense of humor. Yeah,
laughing when she is scared out of her mind is always her first call
to action. The second is to kick some zombie ass.
Their
step was slurred and staggered. Although they did not come at a great
speed, their decayed bodies moved on with a definite determined
ever-demanding need. Halting as many as Izzy could with her new
ability to freeze. The new power it seemed could halt to a point in
time around her chosen subject. Leaving them immobilized while time
cruelly moved by around them. So far, Izzy had learned she could
freeze a room of standing still humans. While slow moving, of what
she could only assume to call, zombies were a bit harder to master.
This
was starting to become a full workout. A half summersault over a
rotten corpse with a back twist over another and she was beginning to
sweat. Then as if a prayer to her calls Arnost appeared and shouting
as, he approached…
“Don’t
waste your energy trying to freeze them all. You have to burn them.
Its fire or the blood of the one they track to halt them. Hurry now
and bring the lighting forth and burn the hell out of them.”
This
pain was something in the future she hoped would lessen but as of now
it hurt like no other. Calling the electric force forth through her
body, it began to break the flesh of her fingers. Just as she could
feel the blood pour from her, she aimed her strikes toward the
walking dead. Laying a strong, enough charge to set them burning as
their hollow forms still tried to move forth.
When
once slowing to a halt Izzy turned to view the horrors of the yard.
Much of the ground lay littered with scorched spots. What was not
blackened by the flames, still burned on with rotten flesh caught in
the remaining blazes’ grasp. The scene looking much like Hell
had moved above ground.
Thank you so much for having me here. :)
