The thought of an evil dentist freaks
me out before I even started reading the story. The idea is
terrifying. The thought of torture by someone pulling out your teeth,
eeek. I immediately start thinking of the movie Marathon
Man. "Is it safe?" (shudder)
So,
dentists are already scary. This particular dentist is a demon and he
is extracting souls. This is a well-written quick read. It is very
much a macabre short story. It reminded me of Nightmare on Elm
Street, since the victims die in their nightmares. It is a definite
spooky, clever, little story that I should probably not have read
right before going to bed. But since it was so short and interesting,
I wanted to finish it. The narrative immediately draws you in and you
just have to keep reading to find out how it will end. Overall,
though, dentists are still scary, this story was more darkly
humorous. It was funny, in a violent, twisted sort of way. 5 stars.
