The Forgotten Ones (The Danaan Trilogy, #1) and Stone of Destiny (The Danaan Trilogy, #2) by Laura Howard review ~Kami

The Forgotten Ones (The Danaan Trilogy #1)

by Laura Howard

MY REVIEW

Allison is twenty-one and her mother suffers from schizophrenia. Her father who never knew of her existence shows up on her doorstep to see her ill mother. This is a short and fast read. The pacing feels a bit rushed but the writing is really good. I liked the characterization a lot. The story was interesting and it drew me in. Usually the first book of a trilogy is the weakest, but I thought this was a pretty good first installment. I am excited to read the next book. 4 stars.

Author Bio:
Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.

Stone of Destiny (The Danaan Trilogy #2)

MY REVIEW

Allison's mother is under a curse which makes her seem like she has schizophrenia. An evil fae has escaped. Allison is in love with Ethan but she can't seem to make that work out since Ethan's behavior has changed drastically to cruelty. Since the magical fae Deaghlan is fascinated by Allison, it seemed pretty obvious to me what was up with Ethan. It made me a bit frustrated that Allison was so oblivious to the possibility of what was really happening to Ethan. There was a lot of explanation and exposition in the beginning of the book with made it drag a bit. The writing is good but the pacing is sometimes slow in the beginning then it gets really fast paced towards the middle. The characters are interesting and the story held my interest. All in all a good story and I am ready for the conclusion to this saga. 4 stars.
