Indies On The Line: Emily Goodwin

Indies On The Line

Emily Goodwin

So with out futher ado here are 6 awesome questions for one awesome lady! Hope you guys like it :)
~Heaven Lyanne

1) Frankenstein, Dracula, the wolf-man or the Mummy and why?
The Wolf-Man. He's human some of the time, is the least likely to kill me, and I'm just not into necrophilia ;)

2) Who or what is your inspiration to write?
This is a hard question to answer. I think my imagination is my inspiration, if that makes sense. I get random ideas and come up with a story. The characters pretty much bug me until I write their story down. And I know how amazing it is to get lost in a book. I love reading fantasy because it allows you to escape to a magical place. If I can give that escape to readers, then I feel like I've done a good job. Knowing that others can benefit (even if it's just for entertainment's sake) from my writing inspires me.

3) Favorite Football Team?
My husband will have a fit if I don't say the Cowboys! I'm not a huge fan of football, to be honest. I don't dislike it, I'm just not that into it because I'm writing instead of watching the game.

4) What are your top 3 favorite movies of all time?
Practical Magic, Ever After, and Hocus Pocus

5) What inspired u to write about zombies?
I had a very weird dream about waking up in a hospital after surgery to get my appendix removed (the surgeon replaced it with pot roast in my dream) to find that everyone was dead. I wandered around and was saved by an attractive Irish doctor who became the inspiration for the character Padraic. He explained that people had become infected with a zombie virus that first turned them crazy and very aggressive. I woke up and thought not only was that the most random dream ever, but it would be fun to write a book about zombies.
Zombies are just fun to write about. The possibility of some sort of apocalypse is very real and very scary to a lot of people. And if it manifested in the form of a ZA, it would give humans a fighting chance. Plus, the ZA brings out the best and worst in people, which is also fun to write about!

6) Can u tell us a little about your Contagious series?
The Contagium Trilogy stars Orissa Penwell, and she’s not your ‘typical’ heroine. When you meet her at the beginning of Contagious, Orissa is pretty much responsibility-free and living for herself. She doesn’t worry about the people around her because she doesn’t have to. As the series goes on, more of Orissa’s layers are peeled back and you learn that she has an interesting past. She has made poor choices and bad decisions, and is living with the consequences of her actions. She’s definitely not your first choice for a leader in the zombie apocalypse, and I wanted to showcase her struggles as she grows as a person.
I also wanted to make sure that the book had a lot of the gritty real life situations we face every day. In reading other zombie books and watching zombie movies, I noticed that a lot of that stuff is left out and the main focus is always on killing zombies. There are other things to consider, and although less fun than bashing zombie skulls, they are just as important. The temperature drops in the winter, so location is important. If anyone was sick before the zombie apocalypse, their health will quickly decline when there is no pharmacist to fill their prescriptions. Finding water might not be that hard, but finding clean water will be. It’s not safe to drink from just any lake or stream. Even if the zombie virus isn’t transferred through water, bacteria certainly are. And there are other issues like loneliness, depression, and the lack of hygiene that are usually neatly avoided. I made sure to bring all that to life.
Contagious is more than just killing zombies - it’s about surviving and finding the will to live in a completely hopeless world.

Before Lilyann stepped into her destiny to lead the coven, there was another powerful Moon witch...her grandmother.

Okay, so I'm supposed to tell you about me...
Seriously, if I wrote a book about myself it would take you 10 minutes to read and you would be bored stiff after the first 2! LOL
I'm a full-time writer, wife, and mother. Which basically means there's always a surplus of pencils lost somewhere in my hair, I usually have some place to be(I'm always late), I have a bad habit of calling family and friends random character's names (from my books), I talk to myself because no one else listens to me, and I can throw together a mean dinner for 8 with only 10 minutes notice and four ingredients in the pantry, LOL.
If you can't find me on the sidelines of my sons' football games, online, cooking, cleaning, shopping, at the local coffee joint or on the phone wandering aimlessly throughout my house then I've probably hidden myself in my "bat-cave" to write.
I have a positive attitude, and absolute fun-loving approach to life. That makes it easy for the voices in my head to take over on a regular basis providing endless hours of entertainment for my pleasure, and hopefully yours.
Random facts about me:
~My favorite color is pink
~I have a Bishon Frise puppy named Cullen Edward
~My favorite music is hip-hop
~I have a severe addiction to coffee. So much so, that those in my inner circle refuse to speak to me before caffeine O'clock! True Story
Enjoy the ride.

My Review::
5 Stars!

When I first finished this book all I had to say was WOW!! I read this in about less than 20 minutes and now I wished I took my time with it but I just could not put it down! From the very beginning you are glued to this book. I Recommend like novella a thousand times!!
This is a story about a young girl named Leeny and how she comes to be a witch. At first she doesn't really wanna embrace it especially after she witnesses her mother kill a vampire. But after her mother makes her train more and learns the truth behind the kill she embraces her fate.
Kymberlee Burks-Miller is just such an amazing author! I can not wait to read what she sends at us next :)

My Review::
5 Stars!

Okay so lets just say that this is like one of my favorite books in the whole entire world!!!! I had the awesome chance to be a beta reader for it and I just couldn't put it down. So much happens. The characters grow so much, you learn new things about them (and you thought you knew them), and there action just about every page. Emily starts off right where book one ended and trust me it's not what your going to expect. More people come to the compound with a weird story on how they got there, and more zombie killing than the first.
If your looking for a good book that will keep you thinking and wanting more this is the series to read! This book will always stay on your mind no matter how much you try to stop :) For a month people have been asking me what is going to happen. It's been hard not to give them all the answers and now they can find out for them self's. I just know that when you read the book you love it just as much as I do!

Indies On The Line: Teresa Gabelman

Indies On The Line

Teresa Gabelman

Okay so this is the questions/answers from one of my favorite ladies in the whole world! Hope you guys like it. :)

1) What is your favorite fairy tale?
I would have to say Cinderella. That wasn't the case until I saw Drew Barrymore play in Ever After. I actually fell in love with the story after that.

~Do any of them inspire your writing style?
I guess in some way it does inspire my writing in that there is the female character who is down on her luck yet strong, not wimpy with a hot sexy alpha who tries to keep her safe from the evil villains. Okay now I want to watch that movie again. Is it on Netflix?? LOL!

~Do you always want a happy ending?
I think it is important to have happy endings, maybe a cliffhanger, but a happy kind of cliffhanger.

2)  If there was a zombie invasion on your house, what is your weapon of choice?
My first thought is a baseball bat to whack a zombie, but then I thought about that for a minute and decided on a gun because I wouldn't want to get that close to a flesh eating zombie.

3)  Do you have a special routine when you write?
I have to have my bucket, 44 oz., diet Pepsi. I do have music playing or the TV on low. I need some noise, I can't have it completely quite. I write outside as often as I can.

That was really fun! Thanks so much for the great questions!

Indies On The Line: K.B. Miller.

Indies On The Line:

K.B. Miller

So I know that I'm a day and a half late with my first post for Indies On The Line but somethings came up yesterday so I wasn't on. But without further ado here it is. :)

1) If you could stand over the shoulder of your past self while you were writing your first book, what would you say to her?

*I would tell her to keep going on the path that you're on. Every fail, every mistake is a lesson that you need. AND, I would tell her to listen to Mason-he's cute AND smart wink;)

 2) Leopard print or zebra print, which do you prefer?

*Wow. That's a hard one for me... if I was on a deserted island, I guess it would have to be Leopard. But, sweet baby jesus, I never want to be put in that position! LOL. I LOVE my animal print smile:)

3) Where did you get your information about witches from?

*From all sorts of places. Some tidbits have been handed down, others from friends that practice and others from books. You should see my library on witch craft! It's better than my YA section ;) wink

4) What are you going to be for Halloween?

*I'm thinking about being a bride...

5) What is in your freezer right now?

*Oh, heavens. It's packed. I only eat chicken and seafood, but my guys are carnivores- so a LOT of read meat. MY personal special treat is my Haagen Dazs Coffee ice cream! That stuff is so super yummy! Gonna run now, and have a little wink;)

Thank you guys for the amazing questions and the opportunity to answer them heart<3
