(Mature Content)
Published through: Crimson Tree Publishing
(The Adult Imprint of Clean teen Publishing.)

The Bionics (Book 1)
FREE
(New Adult or YA Mature)

The year is 4010.
Nuclear war and the wasteful nature of humans have all but destroyed the United States. A new government regime rules the day with strict laws, rationed food, and careful control. When those injured in the nuclear blasts that rocked many of the nations largest cities are offered another chance by the Restoration Project, how could they refuse?

Little do they know that the robotic additions to their body will paint targets on their backs once the government decides that they are dangerous. At the forefront of the resistance is a girl with a bionic eye, Blythe Sol, who wants nothing more than to be a normal girl. Blythe has yet to realize that normal will never exist again for her, or anyone else.

The Revolution has begun...

All I ever wanted was to be a normal girl. I had dreams of joining the ranks of the Military Police and making my family proud. But the nuclear war that laid waste to our country destroyed any hope I had of being normal ever again. They took everything away from me, including my humanity. I am now half-human, half-machine, part of the never-ending freak show that is the Restoration Project.

They hate what they created and they fear us for being powerful.

And so they hunt us, destroying our lives so that they can bury what they built. What they don’t know is this: there is a Resistance out there and The Bionics aren’t going down without a fight.

Titanium (Book 2)
$2.99
(New Adult or YA Mature)
We stand on the brink of a double rescue mission, a plan so foolhardy that even our bravest men are quaking inside with fear. Storm the capitol, free the prisoners, don’t get killed. It seems like a suicide mission, but not a single one of us has anything to lose.

In my past life, I was a scoundrel; a drug peddling street thug who cared nothing for anyone because I had no one to care for me. The nuclear blasts of 4006 reminded me of the value of life, and a girl with the saddest eyes I’ve ever gazed into gave me someone to care for. Now, as we embark on our most dangerous enterprise, I can only hope that we make it out alive and that those we have lost can be recovered.

Foolishness … fear … hope … These are the elements that threw our revolution into motion. As the momentum of the Resistance continues to build, we can only pray that hope continues grow larger than our fear.

Secrets (Book 3)
$2.99
(New Adult or YA Mature)

Before The Resistance, my life was one of privilege and comfort. Before The Resistance, mine was a mindset of naiveté and blind trust in a broken and corrupt government. Before The Resistance, I’d never stood up or fought for anything in my life.

Now, there is everything to fight for and everything to lose. All for a glimmer of hope in our future. It may seem a small thing but with the smallest bit of hope, men have risen against their oppressors with fists raised, even when they knew they stared into the face of death. Now that I have found something to fight for, I can only hope that my past will not become a roadblock to my future and that the secrets I've kept from those whose trust I've gained will not come back to ruin the new life I've made. If they do, I fear that I will not only lose my place as part of the Resistance, but the heart of the girl I am slowly coming to love.

Excerpt from The Bionics:

“I wish that I had died that day,” I admit, unable to look away from his gaze no matter how much my mind tells me that I need to. “I wish that all the time.”

He inches closer to me on the bed. “Is it really so bad? Professor Hinkley gave you and the others a second chance at life. It’s not fair that the government has decided you and others like you pose a threat.”

I think about a news broadcast I saw a couple of weeks ago, showing a surveillance video of a man with an arm identical to mine smashing in the window of someone’s car and beating them to a bloody pulp for no reason, before pulling a limp body from the driver’s seat and driving off in the stolen vehicle. Of course the thief was found and immediately executed; no trail, no jury, no questions asked.

“Some of us are dangerous,” I answer, and of course, it’s the truth.

“Some people are dangerous,” he insists. “Bionics are still people….just modified.”

“Right now your blood pressure is 124/90, your heart rate is an elevated 70 beats per minute; not bad, but still high for a healthy male that I assume is athletic. You have a tattoo on your left arm of an eagle, and a fractured rib.”

“That is amazing.”

I shrug. “It’s my eye. It is capable of reading a person’s body heat signature as well as their vital statistics. It allows me to pull away individual layers, such as clothing, skin, and muscle to expose what’s underneath. It’s how I knew about the rib.”

I reach out with my bionic arm and poke the rib for emphasis, raising my eyebrows as he winces in pain. “Still think I’m human?”

Gage reaches for my arm—my robotic arm—and grabs it by the hand. I can’t feel it, or his hand circling the wrist above it. His eyebrows wrinkle as he turns my arm over, inside facing up. He traces the inside of my arm, his fingers sliding over the cool metal and, for the first time since I woke up with that hunk of machinery on the other end of my elbow, I am wishing that I could feel the damn thing.

“Cold,” he murmurs as he draws circles on the metal. His fingers stop on the inside of my elbow, on the line where the titanium ends and I begin. I hear his breath catch in his throat and another noisy swallow as the pad of his index finger slides over my skin. I gasp as he trails it up the inside of my arm, flesh now on flesh. The human contact that I’ve denied myself for years has left me sensitive to every touch, and I feel as if I’m being caressed for the first time.

Of course Dax has held my hand from time to time; he’s even held me against him some nights when the nightmares get particularly bad until I fall back asleep. But he’s never touched me like this, and while I’m no virgin I certainly feel like one right now. A thousand emotions are exploding in me at one time and just as many sensations are following the path his finger traces up to my shoulder, pausing at the strap of my tank top.

“Warm,” he says with a smile. “Only about….what…ten percent of you is metal. When I got past your elbow, I felt skin, blood flowing through veins, muscle, and…goose bumps?”

He says that last bit with a smile, forcing me to look away in embarrassment. He holds his arm out toward me, pulling up the sleeve of his shirt and revealing a tanned arm sprinkled with light blond hair, which is standing on end. He leaves the sleeve above his elbow and holds his arm out in front of me.

“See?” he says gently, his head way too close to mine, his breath brushing my cheek. “I have them too.”

I reach out with my human hand and touch his arm. His opposite hand comes up to cover mine.

“If anything,” he says, his fingers gripping mine tightly, “the additions to your body give you character. They tell a story about where you’ve been.”

He pauses, leaning in so close that locks of his hair brush my forehead. “Where have you been, Blythe?”

I know he’s referring to the screams and my nightmare. I wonder if I can put him off like I do the others, but quickly realize by the glint in his eyes that he’s not letting me off that easy. I clear my throat and open my mouth, but no sound comes out. Gage leans forward and presses his lips to mine, taking advantage of my open mouth to nibble on my lower lip.

With a soft sigh, he closes the distance between us and cups my face in his hands, taking my breath away with the simple act of molding his mouth to mine. My hands resting on his thick thighs, I come up on my knees on the bed, leaning into him, trembling both inwardly and outwardly, unsure of what I’m doing or why I’m doing it, but know that I can’t stop. Kissing Gage feels like walking down the street used to be before the government labeled Bionics as dangerous. It feels like freedom.

“Hey Blythe, I couldn’t sleep and I was thinking…”

Dax’s voice trails off as the door to the bathroom we share knocks against the wall, pushed open by my bone-headed best friend who never knocks because he knows I’m never doing anything he can’t see me doing.

Except this time.

This time, guilt propels me away from Gage and back against the headboard, my lowered eyelids shielding me from Dax’s dark glare.

“Sorry,” he says, sounding anything but. “Didn’t realize you’d have a visitor at three o’clock in the goddamn morning.”

Part of me wants to rip Dax a new asshole for being such a jerk. What right does he have being mad at me when I know he’s screwed Olivia on several occasions, and who knows what other groupies he’s got salivating over him in both Mosley and Hexley Halls? Another part of me feels like I just got caught doing something unforgiveable, although I’m not sure if it was that I kissed someone, or if it’s just the fact that the someone I kissed happens to be Gage.

When seventeen-year-old Dharma Moore moves to Bayou country so her scam artist mother can work as a Paranormal Investigator, she discovers that more than ghosts haunt the abandoned plantation they now call home.

Centuries ago, a voodoo curse was placed on the swamp waters surrounding the old plantation by a murdered slave. This terrible curse ensnares Dharma with its deadly effects. To save herself, she must face the terror of the haunted waters, find the dead woman's skull, and convince the slave's soul to release her from its torments. When Dharma discovers an ancient secret that links her to the property—a secret kept from her by her own family—she realizes that the curse is more personal to her than she ever imagined.

To survive, Dharma must accept the help of the locals, and put her trust in the handsome gardener, Wolf Bodine—who is the only one crazy enough to come near the plantation. With his help, Dharma must learn to embrace the truth and accept that magic is not only real… but that it can be very, very deadly!

Excerpt from River of Bones:

My cheeks blazed, I opened my mouth to speak, fighting for words that wouldn't make me sound like a fool, when something shuffled upstairs again.
Wolf stared at the ceiling, his brow creased. “What's that?”
“I don't know. I heard it just before you came in. I was going to ask you to come with me to check it out.”
He walked from the kitchen to the foot of the stairs and peered into the dark stairwell. I put Benny into the playpen with his sippy cup and toys before following Wolf up the stairs. Just as we reached the landing, the hollow footsteps sounded again. Wolf glanced over his shoulder and whispered, “It might be the pipes rattling. Old houses can make all kinds of random noises.  Stay close and let’s do some exploring.”
We checked out each room, finding nothing but dust and building materials from half-finished renovations. Then we came to the second staircase, which led to the third floor. Steep and narrow, it swept much higher than the one leading to the second floor. I held tight to the handrail, following Wolf to the third floor landing. Five doors, all closed, lined the narrow hallway, two on either side and one at the end.
“Let’s hurry. I have to get back to Benny,” I said, taking a giant step and tripping over my own feet. I landed hard, spraining my wrist.
“Are you all right?” Wolf said, scooping me up. I started to dissolve in his strong arms. He stared into my eyes for several seconds, then grabbed my hand and placed it against his lips. His mouth parted under my hand and his breath danced across my fingertips. I could hardly breathe. Heat seared into my face.
“Yeah, I'm okay,” I said softly.  I pulled back my hand–my body tingling in places I didn't know I had.
The footsteps sounded again. Wolf helped me to my feet, his eyes wide and alert. “It’s coming from down the hall. Stay behind me.”
We tiptoed to the end of the hallway to the last door. Wolf gripped the glass doorknob. “Who’s in there?” He called. A faint flutter or shuffle could be heard on the other side of the door. Wolf turned the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. “It’s locked.”
Whispering voices traveled under the threshold. Footsteps sounded again.
“Open up, we’re coming in!” Wolf said. He glanced at me, his eyes hard. “I’m gonna break it down. Stand back.”
I took a step away and Wolf shoved hard on the door. It flew open and every ounce of me begged for it to be closed again.

As pieces of Damien’s identity emerge, answers to a rumored mystery begin to unfold. By the time Allie unearths the secrets of Damien’s past, she realizes just how intricately they are connected. Now she is caught in a dangerous battle that threatens her life and those she loves.

Excerpt From Lingering Echoes:

My hand brushed against the coarseness of the tree trunks, tracing the lines and curves of the bark with my fingers. Haunting laughter filled my mind, bidding me towards the river I knew too well. With an aching heart, I followed. I kneeled by the river’s side, collecting the fallen pine needles and cones. I tossed them in, watching the ruthless current drag them along. The leaves glanced off protruding boulders before they were sucked underneath the surface.

I let out a long sigh and glanced upwards, allowing drizzling rain to kiss my face. A silent flash of light lit up the darkened sky, followed by a mumble of thunder. As the sky shed its heavy tears, I remained huddled on the muddy soil, staring up into the grayness.

The abrupt rumble of a motor caught my attention, clashing against the sounds of nature. I stood up, straining my eyes through the curtain of rain to find its source. Across the river I could make out a figure on a motorcycle. He was dressed in dark clothing, his head sheltered with a helmet.

He seemed to be staring at me.

Curious, I stared back. Neither of us moved.

What was he doing out in the rain? He was probably wondering the same thing about me, wondering what I was doing outside all alone. Wiping water from my eyes, I took a step backwards, not taking my eyes off him. Why was he was still staring? I stepped backwards once more, assessing this stranger.

He revved the motor, once, twice, three times. Then he seemed to come to a decision. His bike roared towards me, closing the gap between us. The bridge was off to my right. I didn’t wait to see if he was going to cross it.

Unsure of his intentions, instinct told me to run. I spun around, sprinting towards the cabins. Adrenaline fueled my blood, warming my cold limbs, as I dodged trees and bushes. I didn’t look behind me, even when I was sure the motor was becoming louder, closer. I kept running.

The cabins were in sight. Only then did I dare to glance over my shoulder, my heartbeat thumping in my ears too loudly to hear the motor for sure.

He was gone.

A scream rose above the music and laughter humming in the background. Then silence. Complete and utter silence. Rack winced. Outlaw pulled his nine, a reflex reaction and started down the hallway. Light reflected off the gigantic mural of the Grim Reaper, his scythe dripping blood, his eye sockets burning red.

“Daddy!”

The wail pierced the sudden stillness as he rounded the corner. A little blonde urchin barreled into him and semi-peaceful waves kicked into his brain. She stopped, his gun inches from her head and he loosened his grip.

He stared into familiar eyes. Blue. Intense. Brilliant. A perfect mirror of the former president of his MC. Only these eyes were unfamiliar. And not because of the dark circles ringing them.

They were the eyes of the daughter of the man he’d killed.

Nanee's Review:

I absolutely loved this book. Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell is a bad ass biker and president of the MC club the Death Dwellers and he sure lives up to that name...oh my god is he one sexy sexy sexy bad ass though. Megan Foy has had a horrible child hood, she goes through things no one would ever wish on their worst enemy. She fights a battle she cant win so she runs and looks for her non existent daddy, but what she finds is sexy as hell Outlaw. I thought the sexual heat between these two was perfectly written, the need to be around each other the need to touch each other but Outlaw is not a one women man and Megan is one jealous bitch (as the guys would say) this book is hot as hell, well written and violent but a must read. I loved Outlaw, Cousin Johnny and Megan and wanted to kill the others, Although I wanted to slap The other bitches I felt for them too
(sort of). I hurt for Outlaw and the things he has to go through, I feel so bad for his loss and want him to have some good in his life. Great characters. Great secondary characters and great writing. I want more Outlaw, hes my new Book Boyfriend!...Cant wait to read more by this author. Maybe some happiness for Johnny. 5 stars

Hawk , Samantha Henderson, J.H. Sked , Tristan J. Tarwater , Jennifer Wingard , Laura Eno , Timothy Smith , Matthew Bryan

http://www.allegoriesofthetarot.com/

This is a really great anthology with a very eclectic mix of authors and subjects. I was really enjoying the stories and I liked how the authors tied their own unique styles to the Tarot deck's major arcana. Some of the stories are centered around a Tarot reading and their Tarot card. I like the ones that interpret the Tarot card without ever actually mentioning the card better. Some of the stories were very short and ended too abruptly. All in all a very enjoyable read. 4 stars.

THE FOOL
On the Road to Devil's Gulch ~ Peter Giglio
In this story a young man is hitch hiking with a dog. Twenty-three-year-old Bill wants experiences that he can write about. The Tarot Card The Fool has a picture of a young man who is about to walk off a cliff, a dog biting at his heels. This story definitely takes that picture and turns it into a very interesting story.

 THE MAGICIAN
The Intern's Story ~ Lon Prater

An old man and a young man are at a bingo parlor intent on photographing fairies.

Deadly Son ~ Billie Sue Mosiman

Katrine tries to warn King Solomon that Sheba will bring catastrophe with her.

Flesh In Frame ~ Spike Marlowe

This is a really interesting story about a female artist and plants. A really short, very eerie little tale. I liked this one a lot.

THE EMPEROR
Dmitri and the Mad Monk ~ Kris Austen Radcliffe

Dmitri poisons, stabs and shoots Rasputin and then throws him in the river. Dmitri and Rasputin are both shifters and hard to kill.

On the Shoulders of Muses ~ Jessica McHugh

This is a science fiction story about muses. Delivering inspiration is very scientific in this story. Another very interesting short little tale that I enjoyed a lot.

A Modern Affair ~ Eden Baylee

Ellen is getting a Tarot reading, the Lovers card comes up and the psychic says that it could represent her having an affair with a younger man. Ellen's older husband is the Director of Obstetrics & Gynecology and she is an erotica writer. Ellen is struggling with writing a sex scene in her book. J.D. Ellsworth is a poet and in an online writer's group that Ellen is a member of and they quickly start messaging each other sexually charged, innuendo filled messages. Their banter is erotic and very steamy. I was disappointed that this story ended so quickly. I liked the little naughty, online affair.

 THE CHARIOT
Squashfest ~ Annetta Ribken
Two Southern girls go to a squashfest, some kind of fair to celebrate squash. They go to the fortune teller's tent. Sally Mae wants to know where her father is. “You’ll have a heap to get over, but in the end you’ll be on the winning side on account you’re ornery and stubborn.” This story seemed like part of a bigger piece. It wasn't really a stand alone story at all.

STRENGTH
A Promise in the Dark ~ Rochelle Maya Callen

In Zorilah the Arcana live. This story reminded me a lot of Kresley Cole's The Arcana Chronicles but this takes the Strength card, a girl holding a lion's mouth closed and crafts a story around a girl taming lions in an arena.

The Hermit ~ Red Tash

The Hermit's magical lantern shows him the truth, but not the only truth.

WHEEL OF FORTUNE
Vista Bridge ~ MeiLin Miranda

Juanita tries to save suicides jumping off a bridge by giving them good luck. But life isn't fair and she isn't supposed to have her finger on the wheel.

JUSTICE
Justice ~ Catie Rhodes

Peri can see dead people.

Path of Sacrifice ~ Matthew Bryan

A demon story.

 DEATH
Transformation ~ Timothy Smith

Rose's grandfather is dying. This is a sad little poignant tale.

TEMPERANCE
Reply All ~ Anne Chaconas

A story told in emails. The boss's wife is having an affair. A group is gossiping about it in email until a comment is accidentally sent “Reply All” and the entire office knows about it. I thought this story was so clever and funny. I could relate to office gossip through email and the dreaded “Reply All” button.

 THE DEVIL
Hoarder ~ Patti Larsen

Jane buys more and more things to try to make herself happy. A very scary, creepy little story.

THE TOWER
After the Fall ~ Jordan L. Hawk

A psychic powers, sci fi, sweet, romantic story.

L’Etoile Flamboyant ~ Samantha Henderson

A tale of The Night Circus

THE MOON
The Moon ~ J.H. Sked

Anna has cancer and she goes to her magical friend.

THE SUN
The Strange Case of Sal and the Solar Elixir ~ Tristan J. Tarwater

JUDGMENT
A Body for Your Birthday ~ Jennifer Wingard

THE WORLD
Phoenix ~ Laura Eno
