I love Talented! :)

Here's a bit of the synopsis...

Whether Morphers, Light Manipulators or Telekinetics, the Talented are taught to control their abilities under the protective eye of the government- to use their Talents for good. But all Talia wants is revenge."

I don't really read dystopian books, but I find myself enjoying them more & more when I read them, & this one is no exception.

The book is staged in a world much like ours, but where politics are much different (and not explained all that much), & some children grow up with a wealth of different "talents". This book strangely reminds me of a short story I wrote as a kid, where all the kids have magical abilities, including the one Talia Lyons (the main character in Talented) has, the ability to not only read people's thoughts, but manipulate them as well.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about, was there are quite a few storylines in the book that are rather predictable, at least to me, but it didn't make the book any more enjoyable or fun to read. It is a young adult book, after all. I can't wait to read the next book.

There are some minor typos, words missing or written in the wrong order, but nothing major. I usually won't read books if they aren't edited well, but this one only has a few & they don't occur (or at least I didn't see any) until the latter half of the book.

10*s. I recieved the ecopy of this book when it was free to purchase from Smashwords.com. Wow, what a wild and emotional rollercoster ride!! I enjoyed every single minute of this story!! This story is so well written that I couldnt help but get reeled into this remarkable story of love, detrayal, loss, action, romance, and suspence. The only problem I had with this book is having to wait to read the book in this awesome series to find out what happens next. So many questions and thoughts have left me hungry for more!!! This is a fabulous MUST read YA that all ages will enjoy!! Thank you, Sophie Davis, for writing this magnificent story!!! I cant wait to read more from you!!!

Telepathic Kinsman Jonas wants to find out what really caused the death of his wife. A girl approaches him and asks for his help. Her brother's ship the Eurydice never returned from its trade run to the Nine Worlds. This human ship entered shaauri space without a Kinsman on board. There was a war with humans and the shaauri because human beings minsunderstood the aliens. Kinsman communicate and live with the shaauri. Kori is a telepath too and promises to produce and give Jonas a telepath child if he will help her. This story is pure sci fi and I would be interested in reading more by this author.

Matthew finds a half drowned woman, he rescues her and takes her home. She says her name is Puabi and that she is a Sumerian queen. Puabi looks exactly like Matthew's dead wife. I didn't like this story as well as I liked the first two novellas.

It has been a long time since I have read an Anita Blake book. I used to like her series a lot in the beginning and then I lost interest. This story is from the time frame when I liked Anita Blake. When she only had Richard and Jean Claude to worry about. When things were simpler. This novella sampler comes from Narcissus in Chains. I did like that book.

Four really good novellas. The Maggie Shayne one was my least favorite of the four. 4 stars.

Back in the year 2004, Sage has become a vigilante. She searches the streets for vampires and instead finds human beings committing crimes. She loses a job within an hour because she knocks out a man for bragging about beating his girlfriend. Sage is reunited with Soren and is immediately unsure about their relationship. “I was pretty sure he wasn't going to pass me a “check yes or no” note though.” This line made me laugh. So very high school. Guess one can always been uncertain about how a boy feels even when said boy is a vampire. This book has romance, action, preternatural conspiracies and killer vampires. I love Sage's stories so much. This has become one of my favorite series. 5 stars.

18-year-old Sage goes into an antique store and buys a pendant. Then she runs into an old woman who grabs her and speaks some kind of spell: “Blessed of Amerach, cursed by time's fate. Rise up, warrior priestess, embrace the powers that await.” Sage wakes up in 1904 and a woman with red eyes and fangs attacks her. Sage is told she is a Warper. Sage is taken in by the Cerberus Society. I really liked Sage. She is tough, introverted, awkward and she loves to read. I love how outspoken she is and I love her unladylike snorts. This is a really good fast paced little story. I was really liking it and I am excited that I already have the second book which I can read right away. I hate having to wait for the next installment of a story that I really love. 5 stars.

Scherrer is a brilliant homophobic scientist designing Artificial Intelligence while Andrew creates Artificial Lifeforms. The two men die in a crash but their consciousnesses are brought back in one body making a Joshua Scherrer-Andrew Caine hybrid. This is a very well-written science fiction story. I am interested to read more about this world. 5 stars.
